Born in Coblenz, Germany, Sr. Miriam grew up in San Antonio, Texas City and Galveston. She graduated from Ursuline Academy in Galveston and entered the Congregation from St. Patrick's Parish in Galveston in 1938. Sr. Miriam studied at Incarnate Word College, Catholic University, Washington, D.C. and at the University of St. Thomas.
She taught in the elementary schools in Houston, Port Arthur, Hitchcock and Baytown, as well as at Marian High School, Bishop Byrne and IWA. She also served as Principal at Our Lady of Lourdes, Hitchcock, and in summer religious education programs in the Diocese of Galveston-Houston. With the beginning of St. Peter Parish in Groves, Sr. Miriam accepted the role of religious education coordinator there, working also at one time with Immaculate Conception Parish, Groves. Sr. Miriam also served as
one of the Councilors for the Congregation.
